This weekend, the OACMUN Secretariat held a presentation at the First Gymnasium in Kragujevac, Serbia. This event not only aimed to introduce students to the concept of Model United Nations but also underscored the importance of their participation in OACMUN, emphasizing the role smaller cities play in shaping the future of such conferences in Serbia.

The First Gymnasium, the first of its kind in Serbia, provided an inspiring backdrop for an event that celebrated tradition, education, and the boundless potential of youth. During our visit, the OACMUN Secretariat not only conducted a comprehensive presentation but also engaged in meaningful discussions with members of the student parliament.

Prior to the presentation, the OACMUN Secretariat, in coordination with members of the student parliament, held a productive meeting to discuss the various aspects of debate and to tailor the presentation to the interests and needs of the students. This collaborative effort ensured that the information shared was not only informative but also resonated with the students of this renowned institution.

Additionally, the OACMUN Secretariat had the privilege of being given a guided tour of the beautiful school premises. This tour not only allowed us to appreciate the rich history of the institution but also deepened our understanding of the vibrant student community within.

During the visit, the collaboration with members of the student parliament extended far beyond the initial meeting. The student parliament played an integral role in facilitating the logistics of the presentation, ensuring that it aligned with the school’s schedule and academic priorities, granting us the ceremonial hall in order to fulfil the requirements of our presentation. This cooperative effort exemplified the commitment of both OACMUN and the First Gymnasium to providing students with an enriching educational experience.

OACMUN is eager to continue this collaboration, fostering a lasting connection with the city of Kragujevac and its vibrant student community. Although the first presentation outside of Belgrade, it certainly will not be the last. Recognizing the potential in schools across Serbia, OACMUN firmly believes that the opportunity to experience MUN should extend beyond students in Belgrade alone. For a truly Serbian MUN, every student in Serbia must have the chance to participate.
